Questions frequently asked of

If your question is not answered here, or elsewhere in this website, please do contact me.

Q. Why do I need a copywriter?

A. You are an expert in your business, your organisation, your job role. You know what it is you want to communicate to others in writing, but the words don't always come just as easily. A good copywriter, however, can take your information, and clothe it in the words that elude you. He also provides a third-party perspective.

You get to see the end result of your concept, without having to put in the hard work. Then you can recognise the result, and perhaps tweak it to give it just the personal flavour you wanted at the outset. Painless.

Q. Okay, I agree. How do we approach the copywriting job?

A. You will provide me with all the information you can about what it is you want, plus some background information about the organisation, website address, brochures, etc. The more information the better, really.

I will provide you with a fixed quote, or an estimate, if more appropriate, and my hourly rate. I will also provide you with a written brief, which sets out my understanding of the work. On your acceptance of the brief and quote, I will start work.

We can communicate by phone and email. I will send you drafts in a Word document and/or put them up on the Internet in an unpublished form, if appropriate. Of course, if you are located in Auckland, I would love to come and meet you - a writer's life can be very lonely.

Q. How long will it take?

A. I like to allow 2 weeks minimum for a smaller job. You and I will agree the start and completion dates in the brief. Apart from prior commitments, the creative process demands time. I also need to review what I have written for you after a sleep or two in order to maintain perspective.

However, you can always ask me about a rush job, and I may just agree.

And I will always meet our agreed deadline.

Q. What will it cost?

A. This is a difficult one. Probably less than you might expect, as my business overheads are minimal.

The best way for us both to find out the cost is for you to request a free quote. This will be fixed price, unless there is a large unknown element in the project. In that case I will give you a best estimate, and an hourly rate.

Since a lot of the work that I do has the goal of increasing your revenue, the upfront cost of copywriting is probably a fraction of the financial benefit you will gain from The CopyWizard's magic.

Q. Do you offer a guarantee?

A. Yes!

“I personally guarantee your 100% satisfaction with my copywriting, or you will not be billed. If you are dissatisfied with any part of the copy, I will correct it at no further charge. If you are still not satisfied, you will not be billed for that part of the work.” The CopyWizard (Copywriter).

Q. My material is sensitive and very confidential. Is it safe?

A. I always maintain a highly professional standard of confidentiality and security. All your confidential material will only be accessed by me, and I will only discuss it with you and with people you authorise. If you have a confidentiality agreement you need me to sign, I am happy to do that.

Q. What type of writing work do you specialise in?

A. Website copy and most print material, including direct marketing letters, advertising copy, technical manuals or other commercial documents, and even one-off personal or sales letters that just have to be correct. Please visit my samples page.

I am also able to undertake all research for the necessary background material.

Over 40 years' experience in the business world cannot be discounted. Please read more about me.
